Now Open at Haus of Taylor Gallery

Light in the Hollows: Illuminating Southwest Virginia’s Appalachia is now open at Haus of Taylor Gallery on Historic Main Street in Tazewell, Virginia, and the public is invited to come experience this special exhibition in person.

This show was created to honor the spirit of Southwest Virginia through art that reflects the people, places, memory, and craftsmanship of the region. From quiet mountain beauty to the deeper stories carried through heritage, labor, faith, and tradition, Light in the Hollows brings together works that shine a light on what makes this place feel so distinct.

The exhibition features local and regional artisans whose work is rooted in the culture and character of Appalachia. Each piece offers its own way of seeing the region, some through texture and material, some through story and symbolism, and some through the kind of feeling that cannot be explained, only recognized. Together, they create an exhibition that feels both personal and deeply connected to the land and people of these mountains.

At Haus of Taylor, we believe art should do more than fill a wall. It should say something true. It should remind us where we come from, what we value, and what still burns bright in the places too often overlooked. Light in the Hollows does exactly that. It celebrates not only artistic talent, but the lasting glow of Appalachian culture itself.

Visitors can expect a thoughtful and welcoming gallery experience in the heart of downtown Tazewell. Whether you are drawn to visual art, regional history, craftsmanship, or simply want to spend time in a space that reflects the beauty of this region, this exhibition offers something worth slowing down for.

We invite the public to come visit Light in the Hollows and spend time with the work. Bring a friend, take it in, and experience an exhibition that honors the creative spirit of Southwest Virginia with depth, beauty, and heart.
