BECOME A COMMUNITY PARTNER FOR WHAT WE KEPT
Help Preserve the Stories of Tazewell County and Southwest Virginia
What We Kept is an interactive community memory exhibition opening Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Haus of Taylor Gallery in Tazewell, Virginia.
The exhibition will gather meaningful objects, photographs, heirlooms, and stories from local families and present them as a public cultural experience.
This is a chance for local organizations to support memory, history, art, and community pride in a visible and lasting way.
A Public Exhibition Preserving the Objects, Stories, and Shared Memory of Southwest Virginia
What We Kept is a living community archive.
It gives families a way to share the objects and stories that shaped them. It gives visitors a way to see Southwest Virginia through the lives of the people who call it home. It gives sponsors a meaningful way to support culture, history, tourism, and community connection.
This project brings together art, memory, local history, storytelling, and public participation.
A Community-Wide Exhibition
The exhibition is designed to engage local families, artists, students, Historical Society supporters, tourism visitors, Main Street businesses, civic organizations, regional cultural partners, and people with roots in Tazewell County and Southwest Virginia.
People do not simply attend it. They contribute to it.
